2 part question about jukido jujitsu?

first, what is the the official name of black 2 when it comes to the belts.

second. what is the ceremony called for when a pupil is upgraded to the next belt.

im doing a speech and thought i would ask on here as well as see what i could find online.|||1. Honestly I can%26#039;t speak for Jukido directly, but from my understanding it still uses Japanese. I assume you are talking about 2nd degree black belt, which would be Nidan. (1st Degree is Shodan) Dan signifying a black belt grade.

2. Not sure what they would call the ceremony, and I can%26#039;t think of a term other than Batsugun in regards to promotions, Batsugun is an instant promotion. So it may be out there, I have just never heard it used. Could just be that I am rusty and it isn%26#039;t coming to mind. Also it is possible that Jukido (as it was founded by an American Paul Arel and he has some differing ideas about things, he could have a name for it that I am unaware of.

Hope that is of some help.|||I%26#039;m not familiar with the style you mention. It is not one of the better known systems. But it uses a Japanese name so the answer I%26#039;ve given is for Japanese and Okinawan arts.

2nd degree black belt is known in Japanese and Okinawan martial arts as Ni-Dan (pronounced.... %26quot;Knee-Don%26quot;) The Ni means 2 or in this case Second. The word Dan does not mean black belt as many believe. Actually it means Man. Therefore Ni-Dan means Second-Man.

This is traditional and goes back to the Japanese belief that a boy does not become a man until he is 16 years old. That is way in the old days the minimum age for anyone to be awarded a black belt was 16. First degree balck belt is Sho-Dan, meaning First-Man.

As for ceremony. There is no accepted way that it is done. Each style and school/dojo has their own way of doing it.

Some make a big public thing out of it. Others don%26#039;t. I know of some where the student that is promoted is just allowed to wear the new rank, without any ceremony or public anouncement at all.|||The nearest I know to what you call jukido jujitsu.

Is Bruce Tegners Jukado which incorparates....

Judo,Karate,Aikido, and Jiu-jitsu Modernized.

In his book the complete book of jukado self defence of which I own ,only goes up to black belt syllabus.

  1. Bloggers:

I am a student of the founder of Jukido Jujitsu, Shihan Paul Arel and the regional representative of the Honbu (World HQ) dojo.

First, Jukido Jujitsu is NOT affiliated with Bruce Tegner or Jukado (and never have been). Although, based on the name of each art - it is easy to mix them up based on spelling alone.

The Jukido system of Jujitsu does use Japanese terminology (extensively). The second degree black belt is called Nidan (second grade). As it relates to promotional procedure. Typically students are promoted to their rank directly by their sensei (dojo chief instructor) with approval from the Honbu dojo. At black belt levels, partiucularly nidan and higher ranks, these tests are conducted directly by the highest ranking sensei and masters in the art and international organization. If appropriate, the evaluation board of senior sensei will promote the student directly at the moment or at an awards banquet in which members are promoted.
