Lol @ Zen.
Zen like me practice jujitsu, therefore we are partial to it. But the truth is neither is better than the other. It is better to pick a good school with good instructors in an art that you would like to learn.
Judo is similar to wrestling. In my opinion it is better. Wrestlers tend use their strength more. Judo or jujitsu practitioners should depend more on technique. When I competed in judo there were many that were doing both. It was easy to tell which guys wrestle too. There were very strong. We had to have better techniques to beat them.
Jujitsu not bjj is the origin for judo. It includes the strikes, kick, and more joint locks. Both are effective for self defense.
You wrestling will help you transition into judo. I love judo for competing. There is no real competition for jujitsu(Japanese). Reason being the techniques are too harsh or dangerous. In jujitsu we are taught to break and throw with almost every technique. I%26#039;m not talking small circle jujitsu.
Like someone said try some classes see which one you can afford and which one you like best. Have fun and good luck.
You have to decide which one you want to do.
By the way BJJ(jui jitsu) come from judo which comes from jujitsu|||Judo is a competition based art. That said, it is also quite effective. While there are many takedowns/sweeps/throws included in the curriculum, there are a large number of submissions as well (what do you do once on the ground hmm???)
Jujitsu should cover much of what is taught at judo but should also include striking techniques and weapons training.
Strength is not necessary for either style, proper technique would let a smaller fighter best you if you rely on strength alone.
Try both styles out and pick the one you enjoyed the most.|||Judo and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu have two entirely separate focuses. Judo concentrates on throws and takedowns primarily, while BJJ focuses more on submissions and groundwork.
Of the two BJJ is the better compliment to Wrestling because Wrestling already has very good takedowns and takedown defense, but no submissions.
|||Take whatever class is cheaper and fits into your schedule better. When I was in highschool I was pretty strapped for cash. Both will teach you submissions. Judo will give you a little edge because I%26#039;m guessing you know rudimentary basis for throws. |||Strength is not a factor in either Judo or Japanese Jujitsu.|||Japanese Jiu-jitsu I%26#039;d suggest..
Best wishes :)***|||Exactly how strong is Hell?
