Difference between KARATE KUNGFU JUDO JUJITSU BOXING WRESTLING KICKBOXING?

Karate focuses on kicks, but incorporates punches and some styles have some defensive takedowns.

Kung fu has many different styles and is often used as a generic term for Chinese martial arts so defining it here would be impossible.

Judo is evolved from jiu jitsu with the strikes and lethal moves taken out. It focuses on throws and sweeps with some ground fighting and submissions also used.

Jiu jitsu has two main forms: Brazilian and Japanese. Both focus on submissions and fighting off of your back, but the Japanese style has strikes and is more lethal.

Boxing is just punches and focuses on combinations and doesn%26#039;t emphasize single strikes, but sets up big hits with jabs and combinations.

Wrestling is a form of grappling that focuses on takedowns and controlling your opponent, but has no submissions unless you count Catch wrestling. Greco Roman style only allows you to grab the upper body, folk allows you to attack the legs, but bars slams and the more dangerous holds and Free style focuses on throws and has less rules than Greco or folk.

Kickboxing is like boxing in that it emphasizes combinations, but it allows kicks too.|||Karate is self-defense in the form of martial arts fom Japan. Kung-Fu is from China, faster than karate but usually not as powerful. Judo and Jujitsu are from Japan and it uses your opponents energy for your advantage, it encourages throws. Boxing orriginated in europe but it%26#039;s popular in america but euro boxers and U.S. boxers have a slight different stance. Wrestling is from Greece/Rome and Kickboxing is an americanized version of Muy Thai boxing from Siam.|||Karate - some hard and some soft styles exist.

Shotokan is considered soft

kyokushin is considered hard

Comprises of striking, some throws and a few locks.

Kung Fu - very beautiful art. Some styles may not be that effective though.

Judo - all about off-balancing and throwing your opponent

KickBoxing - kick boxing is striking only but lots of sparring involved.

Boxing - only hands used for striking

Wrestling - throws / grappling involved.

And ... Jujitsu - the best (striking, locking, throws, take downs, grappling...) My favourite.

Good luck|||Does anybody know what they are talking about before they answer questions? To list all of the differances between these styles would keep me busy for the next year, but please do not go by most of what has been answered here. These are just people opinions about what they have read or saw on here generally. I saw at least 3 things that were incorect just about karate in the previous answers.

1) Karate originated in Okinawa, not Japan. The Okinawin styles are actually more geared toward self defense, with no flashy motion. The Japanese styles if taught well are good for self defense, but are more sport oriented.

2) Okinawin karate has both hard and soft styles, but most are a blending of the two.

3) Okinawin karate in addition to blocks, punches, and kicks has numerous chokes, locks, take downs, and throws.

I picked okinawin karate mainly because it is what I am most familiar with, and am not trying to say it is better than any other style, just different.

My point is that there are many different styles of karate, some Okinawin, some Japanese, and some american styles that were put together here, and all of them have slight to major differances. This also goes for Kung-Fu.

I am not sure exactly why you ask this question, but if you truly want to be well informed and get the real scoop on all of these styles, you need to do some actual research. this is a good starting point.

Good luck.|||kung fu is chinese MA based on animal movements karate is the japanese copy of kung fu but more direct attacks judo is a MA based on throws and submisions jujitsu is a MA based on arm locks and grapples wrestling is fake so it is **** and kickboxing is a mixture MA.|||Karate is more stiff than KungFu, Judo is more lenient than Jujitsu, and boxing doesn%26#039;t have any wrestling grapples, kickboxing could be considered a natural MMA.|||GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND|||WHO CARES!!!???|||Karate

Karate is very linear and emits great power over short time periods (one punch one kill). Originating in Japan, Karate was the Japanese version of Chinese kung fu and Korean Taekwondo (although there is some debate over that). Karate quickly became the preferred unarmed combat of the samurai.

Kung Fu

Kung fu (meaning something like %26quot;great skill%26quot;) was brought to china by a Buddhist monk from India. He originally taught his followers kung fu as a means of mediation. Because of this, kung fu has deep spiritual roots in chi (the life giving force of nature). In American schools you won%26#039;t learn much about chi, but in China it is predominate in most schools.

Judo

Judo is another style from Japan. This throwing and breaking style is one of Japan%26#039;s most revered style in Japan and the first Asian martial art allowed in the Olympics. It consist mainly of throws, but don%26#039;t let that fool you, they can strike hard too!

Jujitsu

Jujitsu originates from Japan as well, but in recent years has been made famous by the Gracie family in Brazil. Brazilian Jujitsu is slightly different, with the focus on submissions versus maiming the opponent. Jujitsu consist of strikes throws locks, but mainly breaks. This is the style that (even though most don%26#039;t realize) MMA and UFC are based around.

Boxing

Boxing typically means to fight with hands (and sometimes feet). The term Boxing used alone usually refers to American or Mexican Boxing. Even though the term is also used to Thai Boxing, Kickboxing, and many Chinese styles like drunken boxing. American Boxing is a straight forward style, only using closed hand strikes. Originating as a game of %26quot;best%26quot;, boxing is a gentleman鈥檚 way of settling a dispute. Strict rules are applied to keep both parties safe. But don%26#039;t let that fool you. Go against a professional boxer, you won%26#039;t wake up for a week.

Wrestling

Coming from the Romans wrestling was one of the premier sports in the Olympic games. The object is to get the opponent to submit to you by means of lying on their back for three seconds (why three? why not). Using no locks, strikes, or sweeps, this task must be acquired through strength, and knowledge of body mechanics.

Kickboxing

Often times confused with Muy Thai boxing, kickboxing is more closely related with American Boxing. The addition of using you legs as weapons and guards are about the only difference. Rules for the most part stay the same.
